March 17, 2024 | 11:10 P.M. Discount giant Target has unveiled a list of some of the first new stores it's looking to open across the country, all part of a planned expansion totaling more than 300 brick-and-mortar retail locations.

Target plans to invest in more brick-and-mortar locations over the next 10 years. The retailer plans to build more than 300 stores over the next decade as it looks to “reach new guests with a shopping experience that's welcoming, convenient and fun, whether they're shopping the aisles or using same-day services.”

Launched in 2024, dealworthy is a low-price, no-frills essentials brand designed to give guests incredible value on everyday apparel & accessories, essentials & beauty, electronics and home items.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The opening date has been set for Portland's newest retailer, Target. As we've reported -- the store's new location will be bigger than the one in Corpus Christi and will be located along Highway 181 and Broadway Boulevard. As the U.S. Sun notes, Target's Archer Farms brand was first introduced in 1995. In 2013, it launched Simply Balanced as another in-store food brand alternative. as 2019 came to a close, the grocer then began “phasing out both brands,” as the outlet points out, and replacing them with the then-new Good & Gather brand.

On Jan. 13, Dayton Hudson Corp. announced it would change its name to Target Corp. to reflect the fact that Target Stores comprise more than 75% of the company's revenues and pre-tax profit.

"With the introduction of our newest owned brand, dealworthy, consumers can shop hundreds of everyday basics at incredibly low prices, without sacrificing quality for the price," said Rick Gomez, Target's executive vice president and chief food, essentials and beauty officer in the press release.

Target will continue investing in its stores-as-hubs model during the next decade with plans to: Build more than 300 new stores to reach new guests with a shopping experience that's welcoming, convenient and fun, whether they're shopping the aisles or using same-day services.

Total revenue in the quarter reached $31.9 billion, up 1.7% (helped by an extra week of sales versus 2022). The retailer said that comparable sales and traffic trends also improved sequentially for the second quarter in a row.

The Company is planning several actions in the second quarter, including additional markdowns, removing excess inventory and canceling orders.
